Everyday cleaning
Most 3D-printed décor just needs occasional dusting.
- Dusting: a soft, dry cloth, or a soft brush (a clean make-up or paint brush) to reach into textured areas and layer lines.
- Light cleaning: a cloth barely damp with water and a drop of mild dish soap. Wipe gently, then dry with a soft cloth so no water sits in the crevices.
- Detailed or layered pieces (statues, HueForge wall art): brush first to lift dust, then wipe only if needed. Don't soak them.
The layer lines that give 3D prints their texture can trap a little dust — a brush handles that far better than scrubbing.
What to avoid
A few habits shorten a print's life:
- No solvents or harsh chemicals — acetone, alcohol, bleach, and aggressive cleaners can dull, cloud, or soften the surface.
- No dishwasher — the hot water and drying cycle can warp PLA and stress the layers apart. Hand-wash only, and only pieces meant to be washed.
- No prolonged heat — a closed car, a radiator, or a sunny windowsill can push PLA past its ~55–60 °C softening point and deform it.
- No abrasive scrubbing — scouring pads scratch the surface and blur fine detail.

Caring for specific pieces
